Oh God an alien--! Oh, wait...

Here it is, folks, the first publicized, stamp-of-approval from NASA that there is life out there. This is a piece of fossilized bacteria found on a meteor. Darn, I thought it actually wiggled, but turns out it's stiff as a statue.
However, the Science Blogs are calling this a load of bull dung. Not that there isn't life out there, just that this headless worm thing isn't it. They claim this was only published in the Journal of Cosmology, which "isn't real science." Doubt they're happy to hear that. This story wasn't widely noted in legit science journals, which sort of cancels it out. I think they're just disappointed that this is what they come up with. It also says this bacteria is common to other moons in our solar system, which is like getting your diamond ring cleaned and calling it new. Annoying.
Oh well, I think it's a little cool just because it's new to a lot of people. It's a new fact in the Fact Book.
